The Rollercoaster

Blogging!

As you canGlobe probably see, if you’ve visited my blog recently, that I am no longer consistently updating my post and News.

This year I am not in Mrs.Braidwoods class who runs The Ripple Effect.   Blogging last year has been so much fun and I am going to try to update it every now and then.  Blogging has opened so many new doors for me and I have learned tons of new programs to use, as well.  I recommend blogging to everyone because it is so fun to do, It’s a way to improve our writing capabilities and you can learn lots of new things from people around the world!

End of the Year . . :(

3194508218_7528b77215This is the last day of school which means it’s time to say goodbye to my Teacher – Mrs.Braidwood who runs our class blog, The Ripple Effect.

Even though the year is over I am choosing to continue to blog! I am going to keep my blog and I will be writing posts a lot. Next year I might be able to be in Mrs.Braidwood’s class again! I hope I am.

I have learned so much this year and not only in blogging but in almost everything! Mrs.Braidwood was one of my favourite teachers.  I am very sad that the year is coming to an end but I am very happy because I have a lot planned out for Summer! :)

I want to thank Mrs.Braidwood for one of the best years ever!

It is almost the end of Summer now and I wrote this post way earlier and I guess forgot to publish, I haven’t been on my blog for a while now but I am going to start updating my posts. Happy Summer everyone!

Comparisons

scaleI have been blogging since September and there is a big change in my writing from then to now.  I just read my first post and one of my most recent posts. There is a pretty big difference between the two in my writing.

My first post that I wrote was The Blogging Challenge and it was a very short post! It only had 103 words.  That seems like  a lot but when you’re writing the post it seems very short.  The differences I’ve noticed are that I added a lot more detail to my sentences and I have learned proper punctuation.

I am going to put my first post on this one and then I’m going to rewrite it and look at all the differences! Ok, so this is my first post . . .

” Hi! I joined the blogging challenge because we had to do it for school and I love blogging because I like to type my ideas down and see what people think of them! I want to take part in the commenting section more than the blogging section because I like to tell people what I think about their posts and I love giving compliments.

I hope some of the activities include finding a blog that you can relate too in many ways. What I hope to get out of the blogging challenge by the end of ten weeks is to be a better blogger! ”

Now here is the same post except with a lot of changes!

” Hi! I am a new blogger and I am very excited to learn how to blog! I have joined the blogging challenge because it will help me learn a lot, and we had to participate for school.  I want to take part in the commenting section a little more than the blogging section because I think that commenting and telling people my ideas would be tons of fun, but the blogging sounds fun too!

I hope that the activities include finding a blog that you can visit daily and always find a new and interesting post. What  I hope to learn by the end of the blogging challenge is to be a better blogger! ”

I know I can see the differences between my first post and this one that I wrote right now.  I have definitely became a better blogger and I have also learned a lot of good programs that I can use in the future!

New Years!

check markIf you’re wondering why I’m writing a post about New Years well, we have to write about our New Years reflections. I am going to look at my resolutions and see which which ones I succeeded in and which ones I didn’t complete.

My first goal was a personal goal.  I have two personal goals, the first one is to read more instead of going on the computer all the time and I have definitely succeeded that goal! I have read Eclipse and Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Mayer. I have finished a series of 3 books called Evernight, Stargazer and the third on is called Hourglass.  I have finished a series by Cassandra Clare called The Mortal Instruments! It has 3 books in it and It was a really good series.  I definitely think that I have succeeded that goal. My second personal goal was to play with my little sisters more than I used to and I think I succeeded that goal too because I have offered to play with them a lot more than I usually do.

My Classroom/school goals were fairly easy and I have succeeded on being nice to everyone in my class and people around me. A lot of rumors spread around the school and I have asked the person who it’s about if it’s true and most of the times it isn’t even true.  My other goal was to recycle everything I see and stuff I have brought my lunch and lately I have been packing all my food in Tupperware so that one was easy!

My Local Community goal was to lessen my impact on the environment by walking to and from my dance lessons and I have not completely succeeded that goal because when my mom picks me up I have an hour before my class so she ends up driving me after we get groceries or run an errand.

My Global goal was to buy more fair trade items and again I have not completed that goal because when my parents go shopping I don’t usually come with them.  It’s a goal that would talk a a lot to complete and if everything you bought was fair trade then there would be a lot of things that you couldn’t buy.

Did you make New Years resolutions? Did you succeed in them?

Useful Websites!

gogerI am going to give you some links to the websites that I think will be useful and which I will go on in the future!

I will use these programs a lot later and most of them I can use to do something for a project! I think that if I use these programs in the future it will help me get better grades because most classes don’t know anything about these programs!  Even if it’s nothing to do with school I can create awesome posters using glogster and if I have spare time I can use Xtra – Normal, pivot, Windows Movie Maker, wordle and glogster! The programs that I use daily are Edublogs, Flickr, Google and Gmail!

Last Challenge!

blogoshpereThis is the last challenge of the 2010 blogging challenge! It’s challenge 10. To complete this challenge you have to tell everyone about your blogging accomplishments since the beginning of March!

I have written 33 posts! I have written 12 that are assigned posts (ones that we have to write) and  3 posts that are choice posts, these are ones that I choose what to write about. I haven’t written very many choice posts lately because I have been busy writing the Blogging challenges!

I have gotten quite a few comments since the beginning of March. I have gotten 32 comments. And since I’ve started blogging I have gotten a grand total of 178 comments!

My most commented on post is My Dog Ruby which has 45 comments. I think it got tons of comments because people like to tell things about their dogs or pets and a lot of people like dogs!

The post that I enojoyed writing the most was probably my most recent one - The Vancouver Aquarium because I love writing about things that I did and that was a long and very fun trip!

I have changed my blog theme about 3 or 4 times and usually I change them if there is a new theme that I like.  Right now my theme is similar to all the other ones that I have had.  I think that the theme of your blog (and also the title) is very important and it usually says something about your blog! I like to change my header on my theme to roller coasters since my blog is called “The Roller Coaster”!

I have 5 widgets and I think that is enough for me! I have a voki which is a little character that can say what you want it to! I have a blogging badge, a clock, a flag counter which will tell you what country your visitors live in and I have my avatar!

Participation in the blogging challenge was very fun and I will hopefully be participating in it next year as well!!

The Vancouver Aquarium!

BelugaTwo days ago, My class, Another Class and I had an amazing, once in a lifetime experience (with the exception of my teacher who’s been twice!). We got to go to The Vancouver Aquarium and stay over night! It closes around 8:00 and we got to go in around 9:00, it was so much fun!

It was around a 5 hour trip there but it was definitely worth it.  When we got inside my group go to go to the touch lab.  We got to feel urchins, crabs, Sea Stars and lots of other things! It was a lot of fun. They also had a microscope and they put a spiky urchin under it!

My favourite place that we went in there was the Amazon exhibit! When we walked in the first thing I saw was a GIANT tank of small fish and some medium sized fish but the coolest one was a giant fish! My group and I got to see something that I had mistaken as an alligator but it was actually called a Kamen!

Going to the Vancouver Aquarium was the most fun feild trip ever!! I have been there before and will go there again but I doubt I will get to sleep over there again! I took tons of photos and they will be put up on my class blog – The Ripple Effect! :)

i-pod Touch!!

ipotuchHello, A week ago it was my brother’s birthday and he wanted an i-pod touch, so did I.  It was his last present and It said it was from our Grandma and Grandpa and It was for both of us (because my birthday was 2 weeks away) so we expected to get a book, earrings or something like that because it was in a shoe box but there was another box inside and inside that box were two i-pod touches!! I was in shock for so long! My parents caught it all on video.  We put lots of games onto them and here are my favourite ones.

  • Tap Tap revenge
  • Angry Chickens
  • Music Boom
  • Avatar
  • Waterslide extreme
  • Scoops
  • Chuzzle
  • Bejeweled
  • Eye Illusions
  • Cotton Candy
  • Tap Tap Studio
  • Sorority Life
  • Sims 3
  • Sims 3 World adventure
  • Facebook

I have more games but those are the only ones that I play often.  There are also a lot of basic applications that come with them such as Photos, Vioce Memo,Safari, Music, Contacts, Settings, Notes and Birthdays!

If you have an i-pod what kind do you have?
